I began my photography journey during my freshman year at Union University as I pursued a degree in Digital Media Communications. I had always loved taking pictures on my phone but I had never tried using a DSLR camera until taking a digital photography class. This class taught me the technical side of photography and enabled me to express my creativity uniquely and show those around me how I perceive the world. Ever since then, I have not been able to put my camera down!
In college, I have had many opportunities to develop my skills by being a university photographer, a photo editor for our student-published magazine, Cardinal & Cream, and a Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL) photographer. As a university photographer, I receive assignments for events ranging from sporting events to weekly chapels to coffee shop concerts. As a magazine editor, I collaborate with writers to capture environmental photos and portraits to enhance their articles and the publication's visual appeal. At TISL, I photographed legislative sessions, captured speakers and debates, edited selected photos, and uploaded them within an hour to be posted on social media and online news articles.
These various opportunities have helped me grow in my passion for photography, but my university classes have taught me how to edit photos, sequence them throughout a book, use studio lighting equipment, and interact with subjects to produce the perfect picture. While it is important to know how to properly pose the subject, watching a person laugh and smile naturally creates the best photos.
In addition to photography, I am also growing my graphic design and branding skills. I began dabbling in graphic design during my sophomore year of university when I took a publication design class. I enjoyed creating a branding guide, choosing fonts and colors, and arranging images, words, and graphics to create eye-catching designs.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know me!
I look forward to helping you capture memories to treasure for years to come!
